Collaborator Spotlight—Ministry of Tourism, Culture and The Arts

Our docu-series “Mas Prep” has been a labour of love, made possible through the generous support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and The Arts.

With their unwavering commitment and a monetary grant, we were able to bring “Mas Prep” to life in a way that truly honours our culture. This financial support played a pivotal role in affording production costs, enabling us to compensate our dedicated crew and passionate participants, and essentially funding the creation of each episode.

Beyond the practical aspects, this collaboration signifies a powerful step toward the proper archiving of our culture. Through “Mas Prep,” we’ve been able to capture the intricate and awe-inspiring process of creating breathtaking mas, from sourcing raw materials to performing sacred rituals. It’s an endeavour that not only showcases the challenges and triumphs of our talented artists but also offers a glimpse into the heart and soul of the beloved Carnival season in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts’ sponsorship engagement terms were clear and collaborative. They encouraged us to feature their logo prominently and share their generous support through pre and post-event press/media releases, social media posts, and other promotional activities. This partnership has amplified the reach of “Mas Prep,” ensuring that it engages even more eyes and hearts.

As we move forward, having completed production of the episodes with the Ministry’s support, we’re excited to share our work with the world. We plan to submit “Mas Prep” to film festivals and distribution platforms, aiming to not only further our cultural preservation efforts but also secure additional resources to continue celebrating Trinidad and Tobago’s vibrant traditional mas culture.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and The Arts for their instrumental role in making “Mas Prep” a reality. Together, we’re creating a lasting legacy that honours our cultural heritage and enriches the lives of many.
